Internet Marketing: Keyword Stuffing – Good Idea Or Bad Policy?

Internet Marketing: Keyword Stuffing – Good Idea Or Bad Policy?

Keywords are an important function of Internet marketing. The use of a specific set of keywords or phrases can help a website earn better rankings with search engines, but how much is too much?

A friend of mine was asked once to provide content for a website where the key phrase had three words and that key phrase had to be used ten percent of the time. In other words, for every 100 words written the phrase has to be included 10 times. To put that in perspective the article could only have seventy original words in one hundred because the other thirty words were tied up in the mandatory use of a key phrase. My friend turned the work down.

Why?

Because he understood that the only way to write content with a key phrase count that high would be to stuff the article and force the use of the key phrase even when it would not be normal to do so.

Perhaps you have been to websites that have content that are filled to overflowing with a particular keyword or phrase. The articles are no fun to read and can’t really be considered knowledge-based. These articles are, in fact, only present for the benefit of search engines.

Most experts indicate 4-5 keywords or phrases per article or 2-3% (whichever allows for the most use). Essentially you should not use more than 3 keywords or phrases per one hundred words.

If you do work with a freelance writer make sure they understand that you are more interested in a quality article than in making sure an exact number of keywords are used.

Some online businesses will also request that a freelance writer they are working with include any common misspelling or word separations that might be used when searching online. The reason some businesses request intentional misspellings is that if a potential customer types in the word incorrectly then the business may show up well in the rankings for the misspelling.

I’m not sure I recommend this, but if you come across a site with a few misspellings it is possible the mistake was intentional.

You have to remember when you write or have articles written you are attempting to reach your customers just as strongly as you are search engines.

Internet marketing is an important component to the overall success of your online company. Make sure keywords or phrases allow your Internet marketing to succeed by concentrating on your customer no less than you do SEO strategies.

Keyword Marketing For Online Business

Keyword Marketing For Online Business

Keyword marketing is going to be one of the most important skills you will learn if you want to be successful online. As an online business owner, no matter what type of business you have online, your primary job will be to make sure that your website receives enough targeted traffic so you can make money.

Since not everyone who comes to your site is going to make a purchase (though you can increase this number by making sure your website is set up in such as way as to get a lot of conversions) so you need to get a lot of visitors.

Now "a lot" is kind of vague, I know. A lot for one online business may be 1,000 a month but a lot for another might be 20,000 a month. How many visitors you will need in order to make as much money as you want really depends on many factors such as how competitive your niche is, how well your website is laid out, how compelling your sales letter is, the price point of your product, etc.

After a short amount of time you will be able to pinpoint your conversion rates (the number of visitors who actually make a purchase from your site) and from that point on you can determine how much traffic you need to get every month.

In order to get the most out of all your keyword marketing efforts you should rely on several traffic methods. Most online marketing experts agree that you should have anywhere from 3 to 5 successful online traffic methods going at all times.

Now, one word of caution, don't try to set up 3 - 5 methods of getting traffic all at the same time. If you do you will get overwhelmed. Instead focus on one method first, perfect it and then move on to find another method. Keep doing this until you have all the traffic you need to make all the sales you want to make.

Here are some of the most common methods you can use for keyword marketing and the pros and cons of each:

1. Article marketing. This is a process where you write (or hire someone to write) articles that are optimized with the keywords you've gotten for your niche. This method is free and easy to do, but on the downside, you will need a lot of articles in circulation to give you any real traffic.

2. Search Engine Optimization. This method is all about getting the search engines to "see" your website. By placing relevant, targeted keywords on your website in certain areas you will stand out to the search engines. This method is free and fairly easy in it's simplest form, but it can get quite complicated if you want to go in depth.

3. Pay Per Click. This is the method where you place ads that will appear on the search results page. You've no doubt done a search and have seen the ads that appear at the top and down the side of the results page. These ads were paid for by other online marketers. As the name implies you will only pay if someone clicks on your ad.
The downside to this method is that it involves a fairly complicated method of bidding on keywords.

The amount you may have to pay for a particular keyword can vary due to many factors such as the quality score your ad has been given by the search engines. Yes, if it sounds confusing it is, and since you will be paying while you are learning this method of keyword marketing is better used by those that are already making some money online.

Keyword Perspective – Avoid This Mistake At All Cost

Keyword Perspective – Avoid This Mistake At All Cost

In this article, we are going to discuss a major problems involving keyword selection for existing businesses. It is a simple mistake, but one most people do not think about.

Keyword Perspective – Avoid This Mistake At All Cost

The two prime Internet marketing platforms are pay-per-click advertising and search engine optimization. The issue we are going to discuss today applies equally to either of these platforms as well as any other internet advertising you undertake.

The biggest mistake most businesses make with marketing is keyword perspective. Keyword perspective refers to the point of view one has when developing keywords for any type of Internet marketing. There are primarily two perspectives, but each only works with one audience. If you get them crossed up, you are in for a nightmare.

The industry perspective is usually the area where I see the biggest problems. Industry perspective refers to using industry terminology to develop keywords instead of using terms your prospects actually use. For example, a mortgage professional might view HELOC [home equity line of credit] as a keyword. Most prospects, however, are not going to search for this acronym. Instead, they will search for home equity line of credit or simply line of credit. When you are marketing to the general public, do not use industry terms. Instead, use the terms your prospects apply to your services or products.

The opposite of the industry perspective is found in the business-to- business field. If you are providing services or products to businesses, than you may very well want to use industry terms! If you sell medical equipment to hospitals, your prospects are going to be both sophisticated and using technical terms in their searches. They will search for medial collateral ligament isolation braces instead of knee brace. In the business-to-business scenario, use of laymen’s terms for keywords my kill your marketing plan before it gets off the ground.

Whatever your business, picking keywords is all about knowing your audience. Focus on terms your prospects actually use and you will have a good starting point for your marketing plan.

Building up an online business is tricky. While traditional marketing uses the gift of gab, Internet marketing utilizes the perfect combination of words or terms, unique for a particular website. In fact, the written word plays a pivotal role in online success.

On the internet, keyword positioning is strategic step: it can make or unmake your dream of hitting it big in a realm, where making money has limitless boundaries and anybody, sans MBA can challenge the masters. Search Engine Optimization, where keyword positioning is a primary factor, is the vessel that takes you to your destination.

By definition, keywords are searchable words or terms that refer to a specific subject matter. The main purpose of selecting keywords properly is to ensure that when an online user searches for a product, he types on the search bar keyword or phrases that are relevant to the information he seeks, AND exactly the keywords or phrases that would bring him to YOUR website – obviously, with the end-view of making a purchase.

Targeting keywords for your website is a challenging task, but there are proven ways on how to come up with a list that can work. Here are a few tips:

What to target:

Target keywords based on the names of your product, the brands you carry, nature of your service, or by the use of terms that are popular among online users when they search for products or services similar to yours. Targeting only keywords that are highly relevant to your business assures you that the traffic you need is already sifted from the time-wasters.

You can avail of all the help you need online. There are tools available online that rank keywords according to the number of clicks they generate or how in demand these keywords are among the present crop of searchers.

Internet Marketing Service is an umbrella of strategies, such as article marketing and link building to name a few, but each of these strategies is anchored on pre-selected keywords and keyword phrases. The success or failure of the total marketing campaign begins on keyword positioning.

How to target:

1.)Analyze keyword demand.

This is simply determining, which keywords search engines have ranked high, depending on how many times these keywords were used by online searchers when they accessed search engines for information. However, it does not stop there.

The trick is not simply to determine, which keywords ranked high, but how these keywords relate to your present needs. Are these the keywords that can generate the desired traffic to your website?

2.) Create your own list of keywords based on your products, services and ideas.

As apples cannot fall far from the tree, so do your keywords. They should describe your products or service, not your competitor’s.

3.) Be challenged by the best.

Who are your competitors? Which keywords have delivered to them the most number of traffic? Make a list of these keywords and decide which ones you could target as well.

4.)Conduct a performance review.

Determine your past performance among search engines and find a list of your own keywords, which performed well in the traffic department. If you did it once, you can do it again!

Internet Marketing may be highly competitive, with strategies that never remain constant, but it has never swerved away from the basic: choose good keywords and these will take care of your online success.

Boost Article Marketing’s Search Engine Ranking Through Keyword Usage

Boost Article Marketing’s Search Engine Ranking Through Keyword Usage

When writing article marketing content it is important to make sure the copy itself would be able to reach the intended and target readers. That is imperative because obviously, no content or article marketing copy would ever succeed in attaining its purpose if it is not targeted well. No matter how informative, entertaining, engaging and interesting your article is, if it is not gaining a favorable and appropriate search engine ranking, it would not be disseminated and shared well to reach its target audience. Thus, it is important to know some methods on how you could effectively manipulate the use of keywords to meet your article marketing goals.

To begin with, it is most significant to determine the right keywords for the subject you are writing about. A keyword is a main subject that would be the focus and theme of the entire marketing article. When using keywords in this regard, be reminded that keywords can be made up of a single word, a phrase, group of words or different sets of words that are put together. Keywords are important because that would be how search engines would identify, index and rank articles.

For example, you are using the search engine to search for articles with ‘article marketing’ as the keyword. Upon typing the phrase into the search engine box, a page containing all sites and Webpage addresses containing direct links would be flashed into the computer screen. Notice that the listing consists of several or numerous listings. Also take note that those sites and links listed on the topmost portion would likely solicit and enjoy more search engine clicks from online readers. You surely would look first at those listed on the first few links. And for sure, you would be more likely checking them out than the rest.

This concept is basically referring to the total number of times a particular keyword or keyword phrases are used not just within an article but within the entire Website. As you know, online sites are not just consisting of the article content. Usually, Website designs and pages are consisting of logos and brief descriptions of the content or of the subject or content to which the site is focused at. The term keyword prominence is not widely known and practiced but it is one of the most needed. It refers to the way prominent keywords are strategically used inside the online site. As a recommendation, experts advise article marketers to put significant keywords within, near or at the beginning of the online page, or at the first sentence, title or within what is referred to as the meta tag.

Keyword proximity

The term refers to the proximity or closeness between keywords. With this regard, it is advisable that keywords be closer and more identical or synonymous with each other. For example, the keyword ‘search engine rankings, is proximate, close or equal to the keyword ‘rankings in search engine’. Keyword Density and Search Engine Optimization

If you looked into Denver search engine optimization (SEO) in the last couple of years, you probably got a bunch of information about keywords. You learned a lot of ways, some of them a bit tricky, for maximizing the keywords on your website so as to improve your ranking on the search engine results pages. Keywords have been around for a while now as little tools for making the content of your page look attractive to the software, called spiders or web crawlers, that major search engines use to find relevant sites to match user’s search terms.

Ways to Use Keywords

There are several ways that sites use keywords to get a boost in the rankings, and not all of them are legitimate anymore. Here are the basics:

•Content – You cram as many keywords into your content on each page as possible. This usually meant up to fifteen or twenty keywords per page, and that is a lot of keywords. When a user read the page, they were inundated with words that matched what they were looking for. Unfortunately, the content itself was seldom as useful as it could be since it was more focused on keyword density than on helpful information.
•META tags and alt tags – These are the keyword placement opportunities found in the HTML code of each page on your site. The search engine spiders would crawl through this code and look for matching terms. So even if you didn’t talk about a particular topic on one page, your META tags could claim you did and draw visitors. Alt tags are the same thing but for images.
•Page titles and descriptions – If you could get the right combination of keywords in your page titles and the brief descriptions embedded in your source code, you could get the attention of search engine spiders. So Denver search engine optimization teams were suggesting some pretty keyword dense titles and descriptions that were not necessarily accurate or useful to the visitor.

Keyword Evolution

Today, these are still valid placements for keywords. You can use them in your content, place them in your page titles and descriptions, and embed them in your HTML code in the form of META tags and alt tags. The difference in the most recent search engine software changes and the spiders of old is the type of keyword use they are looking for. More is not always better today. In fact, a bunch of keywords crammed onto a page of useless content will not boost your ranking, rather it might lower it.

Instead, search engine spiders are looking for keywords that occur naturally in the text of a website. For search engine optimization, Denver businesses are going back to the natural way of presenting information on the web. Articles with useful information, META tags and alt tags that accurately describe what’s on the page, and titles and descriptions that direct a user easily to the information they need. These are the SEO methods that work now with major search engines like Google.

So when you’re thinking about SEO, natural is the keyword of the moment

Tips for SEO Success

SEO

SEO (search engine optimization) is a term given to a variety of methods that are used to improve the placement of your website in the search engines. A large percentage of people find new websites through search engines, and they heavily favor the sites that appear at the top of the first page of results. The following tips for SEO success will help you get the most from your efforts.

Keyword

1. Three words: Keywords! Keywords! Keywords! People use keywords when using the search engines, and the keywords you choose will make or break your site in the search engine results. Invest time selecting the best keywords and optimizing your site around them. You need to look at how many searches each keyword gets and see what kind of competition each has as well. There is no magic number or how many searches a keyword should get, so there will always be an element of guesswork involved, which brings us to the next o the tips or SEOsuccess…

SEO

2. Test and track your SEO. The search engines use proprietary algorithms to determine where a site is positioned in the search engine results, and they protect these algorithms carefully. The best way to get around this is to test and track your SEO efforts to get an idea of what works and what doesn’t. It can take some time for changes to be reflected in the rankings, so be sure to give it some time before drawing conclusions. You also need to keep in mind that the results are dynamic because most of your competition will be doing SEO, too.

3. Linking the right way. There are a lot of myths about the best way to use links for SEO purposes. Massive link swaps are one example of a link building strategy that is no longer effective. However, you can get a boost by getting links from well-respected pages that are relevant to your website. If at all possible, be sure that the links to your site include the keywords you are trying to rank for. There is also on-site linking which covers all of the links on your site that link to other parts of your site. Generally speaking, you should have all of your pages interconnected and you should use keywords for those links.

4. Stagnation and SEO don’t mix. This is one of the most overlooked tips for SEO success. A lot of website owners think of SEO as something you do once when setting up your site, and then it somehow keeps working its magic. The reality is that you need to keep doing SEO on a regular basis for two reasons: one, the search engines are always changing their algorithms so you need to respond in kind; two, you have to assume that your competition will always be doing SEO and you don’t want to drop down in the results as they move up
